Do you work fast to slow?

I am currently working fast and I am up against a deadline.

The project I am currently working on won’t be released until the Spring,/ Summer 2025.

We captured photos and videos, including aerial drone footage, throughout the summer. In Tiverton, Devon, the long, sunny days provided perfect conditions for drone work.

This year was especially bad for the weather as there was so much wet weather and unpredictability with the weather systems – Can anyone explain why this happens some years and not others?

In the Southwest of England, summer and early Autumn typically bring dry weather, making it easy to capture photo shoots and video content.

Having so much changeable weather makes the planning of outside work really tricky, often only giving two days’ notice to a client.

All the prep and planning have to be in place well in advance so that when the weather is good we are set to go. But until the weather plays ball, nothing happens.

Did you know that the other half of photography is the edit too?

The editing process requires as much time as the actual shoot, and often, video edits demand even more attention. I find that cutting and splicing the footage together is a meticulous task. It’s crucial to convey the story effectively within just a few seconds. Its key to selecting the right music is vital as it sets the tone of the piece. The music has to align with the clietns brand identity to resonate successfully.

The content created for all my clients starts with the target audience exercise. We have a full day of content marketing strategy. We can all create content, and in many businesses we need to get more comfortable in making content yourself to supplement our hero professional shots and videos.

I teach businesses, if you want to find out more read this.

It takes a year for the work I create to be publicised. A whole year before content is live – more if its for fashion or interiors trends

We shot these photographs last Autumn for a Walking initiative that promotes Mid Devon as a travel destination, in collaboration with the Mid Devon District Council.
